MERAL BASKAYA
Deformation and Existence

In these works, space becomes a metaphor for inner searching. Houses, doors, objects, and figures lose their familiar outlines, transforming into signs of memory, solitude, and change. Deep blues and vivid contrasts guide the viewer from the sea to fragmented architecture, from waiting to exile, from everyday objects to symbols of identity. There is no clear division between the inner and outer world — everything is woven into a single fabric of experience, where boundaries dissolve and time leaves its traces in color and form.
The paintings invite contemplation as a personal journey, opening a space for dialogue with one’s own memories and emotions. Each viewer may encounter reflections of loss, hope, and quiet moments of introspection.
