In 1996, I traveled to Jordan with my aunt. We traversed the country from north to south, from the capital, Amman, to the port of Aqaba on the Red Sea.

Fascinated by the different civilizations that inhabited these lands, I was able to discover the remains of the Nabataeans, the people who built the site of Petra, and those of the Romans in Amman and elsewhere.

For my watercolors, I wanted to portray the various characters I met: soldiers, a camel driver, a flute player, and others. I created them based on my own photographs.

What a surprise to find a hammam in the middle of the desert! Of course, there was no water during our visit, but the architecture of the place captivated us. I used pastel tones to convey the atmosphere of the landscape. Take a walk with me in this desert.
