Artist about this artwork
Thumbelina in the 21st century is a new interpretation of the well-known fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen. Every mother dreams of creating special conditions for her child's happy and carefree childhood. To grow their own Thumbelina in a 'separate pot', protect her from the weeds, pests, and frogs of this world,
and in any danger – simply take her into the house. The surrounding reality is represented in the picture as an overgrown and wild garden, in the midst of which there is a neat pot with a carefree girl. A smartphone in her hands - an integral attribute of the modern child, completes the illusion that the child is not in this reality. While Thumbelina has not outgrown her protected cradle – there is no need to worry about her safety. But the time will come, and she will need to be transplanted into open soil and introduced to the real surrounding world.
