Artist about this artwork We are familiar with David's "The Sabine Women." There is an allusion to ancient paintings in the colors. The white shape evokes the woman with the beautiful breasts that separates the two combatants. But the point here is not to detail the belligerents. Just to evoke the battle. The tower, a little high for the architecture, prevents the drawing from "falling" downward. It is purely a visual arts "technique" which shows that painting obeys rules, and that one doesn't do just anything.
