Aigues-Mortes: The Ramparts

Artist about this artwork What a pleasure it is to stroll along the ramparts that encircle the city. They offer a magnificent view of the surrounding landscapes and the rooftops below. During the time of the Crusades, Aigues-Mortes sat directly on the seashore. Since then, the waters have receded, leaving the city several kilometers inland, cradled by sands and salt marshes. Yet, this has taken nothing away from its charm as a medieval city.
