Artist about this artwork What a surprise to find a hammam in the middle of the desert! Of course, there was no water during our visit, but the architecture of the place captivated us. I used pastel tones to convey the atmosphere of the landscape. In 1996, I traveled to Jordan with my aunt. We traversed the country from north to south. Fascinated by the different civilizations that inhabited these lands, I discovered Nabataean remains. For my watercolors, I wanted to portray the various characters I met: soldiers, camel drivers, a flute player, and others. I created them based on my own photographs.
